Some of the Problems:

Air and water pollution

  • Lack of access to clean drinking water

  • Lack of proper sewage treatment infrastructure

  • Increased risk of expsoure to infectious and parasitic disease and to a growing volume of industrial chemicals, heavy metals, and algal toxins

Use of food additives and pesticides

Intensive farming, erosion, and spread of desert areas

Pollution, acid rain, ozone depletion, and climate change

  • Availability of water

  • Productivity of farms, forests, and fisheries

  • Prevalence of oppressive heat and humidity

  • Geography of disease

  • Damages to be expected from storms, floods, droughts, and wildfires

  • Property losses to be expected from sea-level rise

  • Distribution and abundance of species, both good and bad
